New York Fashion Week has begun, and it’s time to get excited for all the trends we’ll be rock next spring/summer. With so many events, shows, and parties to choose from it can be hard to narrow your focus. So to help, the girls in the know at Hidden HQ have compiled a list of the events we’re most excited for this NYFW.
Sasha Velour Opening Fashion Week
Arty Brooklyn drag queen winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9, Sasha Velour, will be opening NYFW with a performance dedicated to the artform of drag and its contribution to world of fashion. Famed for her unibrow athletic and heavy use of projection art, this bald headed queen is one of the hottest tickets in town!
Ralph Lauren The Golden Years
Ralph Lauren is celebrating 50 years in the industry this season, and is set to mark the occasion by holding a combined party and show. The specifics of the event are still to be revealed, but the brand has already set the bar high with their 40th anniversary shindig. Consisting of a black garden party for guests including Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert De Niro. Of course there was also last year’s A/W show, which featured every guest being chauffeured to Bedford to watch the show amongst Ralph’s personal vintage car collection. One thing's for sure - it’s bound to be extra AF!
What Will Kanye Do?!
Okay, so Kanye hasn’t officially been added to the NYFW schedule, but when has Mr. West ever played by the rules? So we’re all waiting on tender hooks in the office to see what Kayne pulls out. Last September he cancelled his unofficial show just days before it was due to take place, before posting a lookbook featuring fake paparazzi style shots of Kim K sporting the collection. This February, Kanye took the concept a little further by recreating the shots but with a range of celebs including Paris Hilton dressed as Kim look-alikes. So we’re really excited to see what he pulls out this season!
Rihanna’s Closing Party
In what has already been described as an “immersive experience”, Rhianna is set to close NYFW by showing her new line of lingerie, Savage x Fenty. For her New York Fashion Week debut in 2017, Riri worked with Puma. Rihanna’s cameo included BMX riders performing tricks over pink sand dunes, so expect something just as spectacular for round two!
