"Fashion Victim Or Ensembley-Challenged?"

"Fashion Victim Or Ensembley-Challenged?"

October 27, 2017

We all agree that some looks just never go out of style, and this week we want to acknowledge a film that somehow never loses its sparkle. Not only was Clueless hysterical but was also aesthetically inspirational. Here at hidden, we have put together a few looks to recreate some of those flossy styles so you can feel just as fleeky.

Let's start at the beginning, with shirts and tops. Clueless was riddled with collared shirts and fluted sleeves that are in fact back in trend this season. What is more notable, however; are the short hems on these threads! Crop tops were massive in the 90s and the influence is evident. Clueless however brought more attention to the detail in the skirt or trouser rather than the waist by making them high waisted to balance out the look, and give it a more modest “Sorority chic” feel.

The skirt or bottom was then typically expressed with a fun texture like corduroy, velvet or tweed. These old-school basics were completely renovated in the 90s and were that trendy that styling has changed very little since.

Layered looks were not only popular in the 90s but also a great way of making your outfit look and feel new. By putting a thin polo neck under a slip dress, you can take the look from a sexy night out to every day casually flirty look.
