Freshers Survival Guide

September 20, 2018

It’s that time of year again, where a new crop of fresh-faced students begin their journey into university studies. As we all know, freshers is a vital time for any first year. Not only is it a chance to make new friends and begin life as an adult (we still haven’t mastered that one yet). However, freshers week can be a rather daunting experience, so we’ve created a list of our top tips to help.

No.1 Grab The Freebies While You Can

Okay, so it’s no secret that freshers fairs are full of discounted items and goodie bags. After all, why do you think students bother leaving their bad to attend them. However, it's vital that you choose your goodie bags wisely. Make a run for any take-out restaurants offering discounts, because let’s be honest that what you’ll be living on for the majority of your first year.

No. 2 Paracetamol Is Your Best Friend

What would freshers be without waking up with the mother of all hangovers, so it’s vital that you stock up of headache relief. The last thing you want is to be caught short of pain relief when your dorm mates start playing music at an ungodly hour.

No. 3 Don’t Be The Annoying Fresher

There’s always one first-year student that is far too loud for older years’ liking. It’s something you won’t truly appreciate until you’ve left the first year, but trust us annoying freshers are a thing. No one’s saying you can’t have fun, but just be respectful to those around you.

No. 4 Pick Your Love Interests Carefully

There is nothing worse than having to see someone you once dated day in and day out, so pick your university crushed carefully. We know it can’t be helped, but we say follow your gut feeling. If he seems to be good to be true, babe the chances are he is!

No. 5 Enjoy Yourself

Remember, freshers week is a once in a lifetime event, have fun and stay safe!
